Newry Parish is pleased to launch the new Parish Draw, an initiative suggested by parishioners to help support the ongoing costs of maintaining Newry Cathedral, as well as St Mary’s and St Brigid’s Churches.
The draw features great monthly prizes with excellent odds of winning. The first draw takes place in November 2025 and subscriptions are on sale now (12 monthly draws) at only £10 per month by Direct Debit or £110 up-front.
Each month, a total of £2,000 in prizes is guaranteed to be won, including:
• 1st Prize: £1,000
• 2nd Prize: £500
• 3rd Prize: £200
• Four prizes of £50 each
• Two £50 ticket sellers’ prizes
The estimated odds of winning are much better than the bigger lotteries and draws. The odds of winning the first prize in a given month is projected* to be 1 in 700, whilst the odds of winning any prize is an impressive 1 in 100. (*Based on 700 subscribers. Odds linked to subscriber numbers and may rise and fall accordingly.) Draws will take place on the last Tuesday of each month, with the first draw taking place in November.
Where does the money go?
100% of funds raised through the draw will go to the day to day running costs of Newry Parish. None of the money raised will be used for any other purpose or transferred out of the parish. FYI: When you sign up online, you will see ‘Dromore Diocesan Trust’ mentioned. This is purely because the diocese administers the online payment portal. Funds raised go directly to Newry Parish.

What happens after you complete online entry?
- You will receive a confirmation that you have successfully subscribed by email from ‘Gocardless’ shortly. Please check your junk mail if you have not received an email within a few hours.
- Newry Parish will be in touch with you in due course to provide your unique ticket number. Please allow some time for this to arrive.
- For those paying by Direct Debit, your first payment will leave your account on the 1st of November 2025. Payments will then continue on the first of each month for the remaining draws.
- The first draw will take place on the last Tuesday of November. Subsequent draws will usually take place on the last Tuesday of each month. Further information can be found in the terms and conditions below.
Newry Parish Draw Terms and Conditions

- The Promoter of this draw is Newry Parish Draw, 38-40 Hill Street, Newry, Co. Down, Northern Ireland. BT34 1AT. Newry Parish Draw is registered as a society with Newry Mourne & Down District Council under the provisions of the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Northern Ireland) Order 1985.
- This draw is open to individuals aged 18 and over. Entry to the Draw is by subscription at a cost of £10 per month (£120 annually). This will give members one ticket number which will be placed in twelve (12) consecutive monthly draws. Members are permitted to purchase more than one subscription in their name. Payment may be made monthly by Direct Debit or annually via a single up-front up-front payment by cheque, cash, or online via GoCardless. A discount consisting of an administrative saving of £10 will be applied to those paying for the full twelve months up-front by cash, cheque or online payment via GoCardless (Total due up-front is £110). All payments must have cleared by the end of the 7th day of each month to be eligible to win. Any monthly payment received after the deadline will result in the number not being included in the draw for that month. A receipt will be issued for all cash or cheque payments. GoCardless will provide a receipt for online payments. All proceeds of the draw, after deduction of expenses and prizes, shall be applied for the charitable purposes of Newry Parish.
- While Direct Debit subscribers have a right to cancel at any time by notifying Newry Parish Draw and their bank, all subscribers are asked to commit to a minimum subscription period of twelve (12) consecutive months. Early cancellation or non-payment will render the subscriber ineligible for entry and prizes. Missed payments will automatically suspend eligibility until payment is received; eligibility cannot be backdated. Only subscribers with active, up-to-date payments at the time of the draw shall be eligible to win. If a winning subscriber is later found to have been ineligible due to missed or failed payments, the prize shall be forfeited and may be reallocated or redrawn at the Parish’s discretion. Newry Parish Draw shall not be responsible for any fees charged by the subscriber’s bank or by the Direct Debit processor, GoCardless. In the event of any dispute regarding eligibility, ticket validity, or prize awards, Newry Parish Draw’s decision shall be final and binding.
- Following the initial twelve (12) month subscription, participation in the Newry Parish Draw shall continue on a rolling annual basis for Direct Debit subscribers. Direct Debit Subscribers will receive notice in Month 10 of each draw year, via the parish bulletin, website, Facebook page, and other reasonable means, advising of the forthcoming renewal. It is the subscriber’s responsibility to ensure that the Parish Office has accurate and up-to-date contact details. Subscribers may cancel their participation at any time by notifying the parish office and their bank. Where payment is not renewed or continued, eligibility for entry and prizes will lapse. Subscribers who joined the draw via an upfront or cash payment will need to renew the payment again to participate.
- There shall be seven (7) prizes per month: 1 x £1000, 1 x £500, 1 x £200, 4 x £50. The prizes shall be published on the ticket. There will also be two (2) separate sellers’ prizes per month: 2 x £50. Each seller will be eligible only for one prize per month.
- The winner will be chosen at random from all valid entries. Each subscriber will be allocated a unique subscriber ticket number. Each unique subscriber ticket number, if drawn, will only be eligible for one prize per month. Members who purchase more than one ticket are eligible to win one prize per each unique subscriber ticket number per month.
- The draw will normally be held on the last Tuesday of each month. In the event that, in Newry Parish Draw’s reasonable opinion, the number of subscriptions is insufficient to ensure the financial viability of the draw, Newry Parish Draw may, at its discretion, cancel or postpone the draw. Any such cancellation shall give rise only to the refund of monies paid for subscriptions, with no entitlement to damages or consequential loss.
- In the event that the draw cannot be held on the advertised date, Newry Parish Draw reserves the right to reschedule the draw to a later date if circumstances so require, without liability beyond honouring existing subscriptions. Newry Parish Draw will make every effort to reschedule the draw for as soon as possible after the advertised date.
- Newry Parish Draw will notify winners by email as soon as possible after the eligibility of the winner has been verified (confirmation that subscription payments are up-to-date). Prizes will be paid by cheque. Newry Parish Draw will make all reasonable efforts to pay prizes to the winners within a reasonable period after the monthly draw. The names of winners will be published in the Newry Parish Bulletin, parish website and social media channels.
- Newry Parish Draw reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. The latest version will always be available on the parish website at https://newrycathedralparish.org/draw All decisions of Newry Parish Draw are final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.
