One of the most promising upcoming pianists, organists, and composers in Ireland, Orly Watson is Organist of Dromore Cathedral, and Official Accompanist at Queen’s University.
A published composer, he is currently undertaking doctoral studies in that field at Queen’s. He studied organ at Armagh’s two cathedrals with Theo Saunders and Baron George Minne, and the piano in Belfast with Simon Mawhinney and in London with Michael Dussek.
A graduate of Oxford University and of the Royal Academy of Music in London, Orly has performed extensively in Ireland and England and has worked for the Royal Irish Academy of Music and for Northern Ireland Opera. He is one of the leading young accompanists in Ireland and was awarded the 2018 Peter Rankin Internship by NI Opera.
As part of his 2021 summer recital tour, Orly will give an hour ‒ long performance on the Cathedral Organ on Friday 20th August 2021. This programme will include music by Bach, Mendelssohn, Vierne and others.
